BOKEH & LIGHT
Intermediate photography course
This intermediate-level course gives you hands-on experience combined with modern teaching approaches. You will be able to hone your skills and understand how to use natural light, positioning your subject and achieving the maximum bokeh your lens can deliver.
This course is suitable for you if you have already attended my ROCK YOUR CAMERA beginners photography workshop OR you are comfortable using aperture-priority or manual camera mode. If you aren’t sure whether this is right for you just get in touch here. The course will assume you are comfortble with the technical aspects of photography, such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and take your photography further.
During the 2 hour shoot, I will show you how to use the light around us and recognise good light and bad light. We will have a child model so you get some fabulous photos using the principles of light and maximising the bokeh, ready for when you photograph your own children. Working with a child model also enables you to understand how best to work with your own children to get natural expressions and a wide range of shots.
After the location shoot, I will give you 2 assignments to go away and try out your skills on your own children - or whoever your muse might be! Students will have around 2 weeks to complete both assignments and I will be available to assist with any problems you encounter.
To finish off the course, we will all meet together as a group for a 1 hour skype meeting. We will discuss the results of your assignments and resolve the problems you may have had and next steps for progressing further. Individual critique of the assignements might seem scary but it is really the best way to learn, and you can learn a lot from seeing other people’s photos and my critique of them. If you aren’t able to make the skype meeting, I can schedule a 30 minute individual skype meeting on another date as an alternative.
