Sunset minis - Natural child portraits

Sunset sessions use the magical late-afternoon light to create natural portraits of your child. Sunset sessions are great for parents who want a stunning portrait of their child. They are also great birthday presents for children who want to try out being a model, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. They are however extremely limited with only four timeslots each month - so early booking is highly recommended.

What are differences between FAMILY MINIS and SUNSET MINIS?
There are three key differences between these Sunset Minis and my standard Family Minis. Firstly, Sunset Minis are a one-child shoot - the whole focus of the shoot is on getting a variety of portraits of one child. I do not include any family images or sibling shots as this would detract from the main intention of the shoot. Secondly, they are shorter (15 minutes) but also have a lower price to match. And lastly, for Sunset Minis we make light our priority and that's why they are scheduled in the evening.

How long is a Sunset Mini ?
Mini Sessions are 15 minutes long. Mini Sessions are scheduled back-to-back with other children - there are 4 timeslots on each of the evenings, so it's important to arrive in good time.

What ages are they suitable for?
Sunset Minis are suitable for children over 4 as they do require a small amount of instructions and cooperation so it really varies for each child. From experience, I have found they work particularly well for children aged 7 to 15, and especially those children who love the attention!

Do I need to book?
Booking is essential. Mini Shoots are by appointment only. Book your time slot below.

What if my child is shy - will 15 minutes be enough?
I have been in business for over 8 years now so have lots of experience working with different children and different moods, so I rarely have any problems. I am often seen dancing like a gorilla - or asking dad to perform his funniest dance - or cracking a terrible joke. With smaller children we can have them holding your out of shot, or occasionally sitting on parents if they are really shy. However only you know your child, and if you have a child who is extremely shy or doesn't cope well with new situations, you might want to consider a Family Mini or a full Family Session instead. For a Family Session we have an hour to customise the whole experience around your family and take our time.

What about the weather?
I can shoot in any weather except constant rain - so I rarely need to reschedule. We don't need a glorious sunset either - it is the LIGHT around that time of day that is important rather than how the sky looks. However, should we be unlucky enough to have heavy rain, I will reschedule your slot to a future sunset session, free of charge. I would usually aim to schedule a new date within a month of your original date.
